How we work
We follow a clear, collaborative process from the first conversation to the final handover. No stage is delegated away; the principal team stays on your project throughout.
Discovery. We start by listening. A meeting or series of meetings to understand your brief, your constraints, and what success looks like for you and the people your project will serve.
Concept and design. We develop design concepts in close collaboration with you, working through agreed stages from Concept Design through to Detailed Design and Construction Documentation. You sign off at the conclusion of each stage.
Delivery. We act as lead consultant, coordinating engineers and specialist consultants on your behalf, managing procurement, and guiding contractor selection and tender.
Construction and handover. We stay on your project through build-out, monitoring quality and design integrity, managing commissioning and handover, and supporting you through the Defects Liability Period.

Meet the team
Our founding director, Nicholas Bonaventure, has spent 30 years designing the Gulf's most exacting projects, including the Bahrain World Trade Center, Durrat Al Bahrain, and the Al Sharq Office Tower in Kuwait.
nicholas.design is a studio of ten: seven architects, one interior designer, one landscape and urban designer, and one business development lead. We work in English, Arabic, and Hindi/Urdu. We are non-hierarchical, principal-led, and built to give every client the attention their brief demands.

Frequently asked questions
Do you design both the exterior architecture and the interior fit-out for commercial projects?
Yes.
nicholas.design provides commercial architecture services that span from the building envelope and structure through to interior fit-out design. For projects where architecture and interior design are commissioned separately, we coordinate with appointed interior designers to ensure the building shell and fit-out are coherent. For projects where the client wants a single studio to manage both scopes, we provide that service directly.

Can you manage the full commercial construction process?
Yes.
We act as lead consultant on commercial projects, coordinating the full consultant team, managing procurement and tender, and providing Construction Stage Services through to handover. This includes:
- Lead consultancy: appointing and managing engineers, sustainability consultants, and specialist sub-consultants on the client's behalf
- Procurement: contractor selection, tender management, and contract award
- Construction administration: site monitoring, quality control, and design integrity through to Defects Liability Period
What commercial building certifications can you support in Saudi Arabia?
We work to LEED, WELL, and Mostadam as standard on KSA commercial projects, and target specific levels based on the brief:
- LEED Core + Shell: for base-build commercial developments where sustainability performance is certified at the building level
- LEED Commercial Interiors: for tenant fit-outs where the client requires interior-level certification
- WELL v2: for office and commercial buildings where occupant health and wellbeing is a priority, increasingly specified by international tenants
- Mostadam: Saudi Arabia's national green building rating system, applicable to all commercial development in the Kingdom
