How we work
We follow a clear, collaborative process from the first conversation to the final handover. No stage is delegated away; the principal team stays on your project throughout.
Discovery. We start by listening. A meeting or series of meetings to understand your brief, your constraints, and what success looks like for you and the people your project will serve.
Concept and design. We develop design concepts in close collaboration with you, working through agreed stages from Concept Design through to Detailed Design and Construction Documentation. You sign off at the conclusion of each stage.
Delivery. We act as lead consultant, coordinating engineers and specialist consultants on your behalf, managing procurement, and guiding contractor selection and tender.
Construction and handover. We stay on your project through build-out, monitoring quality and design integrity, managing commissioning and handover, and supporting you through the Defects Liability Period.

Meet the team
Our founding director, Nicholas Bonaventure, has spent 30 years designing the Gulf's most exacting projects, including the Bahrain World Trade Center, Durrat Al Bahrain, and the Al Sharq Office Tower in Kuwait.
nicholas.design is a studio of ten: seven architects, one interior designer, one landscape and urban designer, and one business development lead. We work in English, Arabic, and Hindi/Urdu. We are non-hierarchical, principal-led, and built to give every client the attention their brief demands.

Do you design both hotel and resort projects in Saudi Arabia?
Yes.
Our hospitality architecture practice covers the full range of typologies: urban business hotels, luxury resort hotels, boutique heritage hotels, and large-scale resort master plans. Each requires a distinct spatial logic and operational brief. We approach them with the same rigour, calibrated to the client's programme.
How do you approach sustainability in KSA hospitality architecture?
We align with LEED, BREEAM, and Mostadam as standard across our hospitality commissions. For Red Sea coast and NEOM-adjacent projects, we work to the Red Sea Global net-zero construction framework where it applies. Our sustainability approach covers:
- Passive design strategies: thermal mass, shading, and natural ventilation appropriate to the coastal or desert context
- Material specification for durability and a reduced environmental footprint in extreme climates
- Energy and water systems integration from Concept stage, not retrofitted at the end of the design process
Can you manage the design for a mixed-use resort development?

What is your experience with branded hotel standards?
International hotel operators, including Marriott, IHG, Hyatt, and their luxury sub-brands, each publish detailed brand standards that govern everything from structural grid dimensions to ceiling heights, bathroom layouts, and signage zones. We are experienced in delivering architecture that meets those standards while producing buildings that are architecturally distinctive and responsive to their Saudi context.
