Edendale School Refurbishment

NJD’s Heart Tower is a signature development by Daman Projects located on the iconic King Fahd Road in Riyadh. The project strongly references Najdi design, the architectural heritage of this part of the Kingdom, together with the Salmani architectural initiative which seeks to combine traditional devices and forms into contemporary buildings. nicholas was commissioned to design the office landlord areas, including lobbies and retail circulation space, together with selected office tenancies, totalling more than 10,000m2 in floor area. The design utilises a limited palette of traditional materials such as sandstone and brass, together with screens which cast shadow with the passage of the sun. The result is a discrete, respectful and forward-looking essay on the region’s cultural heritage – which is both relevant and something that tenants can be proud of.
