Urban Ecosystems

Regenerative Design - Bahrain

October 27, 2024

Looking beyond sustainable design, nicholas always strives to craft city space which contributes positively to the biosphere. This means not simply “keeping things as they are” – which “sustainability” implies – but making a real difference.

To this end we envision the built environment as a network of interconnected urban ecosystems.

Within it, most things can be reached within 15 minutes by walking or cycling – the 15-minute city.

Given Bahrain’s hot climate, introduction of tall landscaping and shade within the public domain are key – as is the provision of direct walking routes within and between developments, with amenity stops along the way.

We strongly believe that development should be regenerative – improving outcomes for both the environment and for people.
