Looking beyond sustainable design, nicholas always strives to craft city space which contributes positively to the biosphere. This means not simply “keeping things as they are” – which “sustainability” implies – but making a real difference.
To this end we envision the built environment as a network of interconnected urban ecosystems.
Within it, most things can be reached within 15 minutes by walking or cycling – the 15-minute city.
Given Bahrain’s hot climate, introduction of tall landscaping and shade within the public domain are key – as is the provision of direct walking routes within and between developments, with amenity stops along the way.
We strongly believe that development should be regenerative – improving outcomes for both the environment and for people.
