Looking beyond sustainable design, nicholas always strives to create urban environments which contribute positively to the biosphere. This means not simply “keeping things as they are” – which “sustainability” implies – but making a real difference.
We advocate for “positive” intensification of the urban environment via the introduction of mixed-use components which have natural synergies. These should be reached, where possible, by walking.
Single-use city centres are things of the past. Networks of dense, but walkable and interconnected, mixed-use “hubs” are the future – where everything can be reached within 15 minutes.
Walk to work. Walk to school. Walk to a café. Walk for leisure.
Walking the city showcases the best that it has to offer and can lead to surprising moments – and chance social encounter.
We strongly believe that development should be regenerative – improving outcomes for both the environment and for people.
