Hospitality – 6

December 9, 2025

Thoughtful arrival sequences.

The architecture of hospitality today goes beyond designing lobbies and rooms. It’s about whether the places we build can tell stories of the region, its crafts, its climate, and people.

Hotel arrival sequences should be culturally evocative and with a discernible sense of the local. This is how nicholas designs them – with sensitivity and understanding.

New developments increasingly mimic local character through decoration, rather than reflecting it more deeply through materiality, play of light, and proportion. A hotel has always been a gateway to the city, the guests’ first experience, and their entry point. It is worth returning to an architecture that works through the quietude of detail and one which conveys meaning - rooting visitors in context.

In successful future hospitality spaces, the guest must feel like a participant. This is a critical growth and survival strategy for our age of overabundance.

We strongly believe that development should be regenerative and bring wide-ranging success – improving hospitality outcomes by developing a “sense of place”.
