Health and wellness villages should not look like hospitals. In fact, hospitals should not look like hospitals!
They’re often associated with a cold corridor, the smell of disinfectant, and the feeling that life has paused. Today, a simpler and more human idea is gaining ground: that healing begins long before diagnosis.
The future of heath care lies in long-term wellbeing. Patients and operators are stakeholders in a lifelong journey where relationships are built and maintained on trust.
Wellness villages are therefore places where people naturally want to spend time – and often do so with their loved ones. They cater to family members of all ages. They are community focused.
Architecturally, environment is prioritised. Designs are pedestrianised. Landscaping is the unifier. There is more greenery; there are fewer barriers, walkable spaces, shared courtyards, ambient lighting.
Health is built in an environment that doesn’t create stress. In places we desire.
