Urban Ecosystems

“Green connectors”

February 18, 2025

Looking beyond sustainable design, nicholas always strives to create urban environments which contribute positively to the biosphere. This means not simply “keeping things as they are” – which “sustainability” implies – but making a real difference.

We advocate for green connections within the public realm, created via imaginative landscaping, with the purpose of enhancing amenity and making it easier to walk and cycle.

“Green connectors” can run alongside existing road and transport corridors or – preferably – navigate their own course through the city.  Essentially, they are ribbon parks connecting destinations without the use of cars.

There are several compatible adjacent land uses, including food and beverage, retail, residential, education and office.

Let’s activate the public domain in our Middle East cities and increase opportunities for year-round outdoor activity.

We strongly believe that development should be regenerative – improving outcomes for both the environment and for people.
