Designing with water

We are making great progress in our Middle East cities with outdoor public infrastructure and improved connectivity.

The civic realm comes alive when people can comfortably use it, even in hot weather.

We know that it’s possible, through good design, to naturally cool the environment by 5-7 degrees Celsius.

Let’s lower the temperature by adopting the traditional courtyard form, colonnades and landscaping for shade, and moving water for evaporative cooling – to help people spend more of their time outdoors.

‍

Water features can be scaled in size to suit the space they are serving. However, water bodies which are shaded from the sun and exposed the breeze will work best.

‍

We strongly believe that development should be regenerative – improving outcomes for both the environment and for people.
